So you wanna do your part time studies ehhhh?

Hello everyone, I am finally back from my rather long study break. And I guess it is about time that I wrote another post.  So , as some of you may already know or not know, I am working full time at a hospital and a part time student at SIM doing my degree. I am just done with my 1st year and I still have a few more years to go before I can finally graduate. I am doing Human Resource for my degree. Before that, I was actually doing my degree in social work  but decided to change course due to lack of interest.

Juggling between school and study is not an easy task but it is pretty do-able as long as you are willing to put your hearts into it. There are lots of sacrifices to be made but it will all pay off eventually.  So here are a few tips if you are considering of doing your studies part time like me while doing a typical full time office hour job.

You will definitely need to make certain life c
hanges. Basically, you will need to now set aside time for your studies. So try to prioritise. I know it gets hard sometimes when your friends ask you to join them for a party but you are stuck with your assignments but these are just one or two of the changes that you have to make in future. If you were in poly or secondary school, sure you would have a lot of time because school is your main priority and half of your day is spent there and if you are free, you may finish up your assignments on the very day itself. For part time studies, your commitment and priorities just increased. You have to juggle between work, school, family and social life. So probably you can learn to prioritise on what you want to do. For me, I set aside a schedule for myself. To study and go to school on weekdays and revise on weekdays and Sundays and Saturday is basically a time for me to do my own things.

The most important thing of all is to actually choose a course that you like because it makes learning a lot easier and you would be motivated to go to class. You will be very interested during the lectures and it helps to keep you awake. Most part time classes are in the night, which is after work so most of us would actually feel really tired and probably spam lots of caffeine just to stay awake.

No matter what you do, there will always be someone whom would look down on you and doubt you. Just learn to ignore them. Before I started on my degree, I was just randomly mentioning about how I was considering taking up a part time degree to my co-worker.  My co - worker then said " U can meh? I dont think you can lah. You sure will quit". Of course I got rather pissed off with that bitch but I decided to go ahead anyway and prove to her that I can. Haters are gonna hate and people will always be jealous of you and your capabilities so just ignore. You know yourself better than anyone else and you know your own strengths and weaknesses.

So there you have it, 3 simple but rather relevant tips that would probably help you if you are considering of doing part time studies. All the best people, and have a good week ahead. :)
